Electroforming for Jewelry

This Easy Electroforming for Jewelry book by Denise Peck recently caught my eye and I've been contemplating it ever since.

It's $19.95 and available through the Interweave Store online.  If you have it already, could you please comment and let me know your opinion?  It's kind of stuck and I am thinking I'd really like to get it.

Haunted on Bourbon Street

I can't wait to get glass artist and author, Deanna Chase's new book, "Haunted on Bourbon Street" in the mail.  I just ordered it and having read excepts, it sounds like a great read.

I'm going to admit something- I enjoy a good romance novel.  There, I said it.  And this one is a paranormal romance novel which sounds like it will be lively and fun.  And New Orleans is a great location for ghosts, good looking landlords and a great plot.

You can order it HERE  and even get a signed copy.  I did.

Surreal Babies

Postcards of babies doing weird and wonderful things from the 1920's and 30's were avidly collected and used as a source of inspiration by Surrealists and Dadaists of that time.  Little is known about their history.

A new book compiled by James Birch,  Babylon: Surreal Babies shows them hatching from eggs, riding in zeppelins, driving cars and so much more.

It makes me wonder, what is its equivalent from last year?  Any ideas?

The Penland Book of Glass

If you haven't seen this wonderful book, pop over to Amazon, and check it out. When my teacher from last summer, Shane Fero showed it to our class, I knew I needed a copy. It features 10 fabulous artists and is eye candy for the fellow glass addict. You'll also find some used copies on Amazon, which make the deal even sweeter.

Let The Rumpus Begin

Tomorrow, the movie, Where the Wild Things Are opens at theaters. I'm excited. I used to read that book to my children when they were young.

I've always loved children's stories. The imagination, illustrations and stories often resonate with me. Perhaps, I'm just a bit of a kid at heart.

So as I was watching the PR come out for the movie, I decided to do a small interpretation as well. I made the Wild Things assemblage from three free standing beads and my friend, Jim Berry of Blue Moon Glassworks fused the stand. He had been experimenting with ideas for me.

The assemblage is meant to hang out together, but I left the beads loose, so they can be easily removed from the stand and worn on a change a bead type pendant. How slick is that? And even the tree has one side of leaves that isn't quite as round, so it will lay better when worn.

So pop by my Studio Marcy Etsy shop, and check it out, because that where the Wild Things are.
