I have always loved this mirror at my parents' house. It was hung in my childhood bedroom of course after I left. So I get to enjoy it now. I wonder if it had anything to do with my love of glass and my career. Do you know what started you on your career? Would love to hear about it.
I have two career paths, actually: CPA and artist. Being a CPA probably got its roots in playing librarian growing up and then it would lead to recordkeeping tasks of sorts and then some kind of numbers thing or math. I always had lots of different papers, markers, crayons, etc., and crafts supplies which would become more art based than recordkeeping when those activities became boring. Sounds like me now, at 53. When the numbers don't satisfy or keep my attention, all things turn to art and fun! I guess I have to use both sides of my brain.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful mirror Marcy! My mother wanted to learn how to make glass objects. So, using test tubes and an alcohol burner she experimented on the kitchen counter with me sitting next to her watching her every move. She found it harder than she thought and never persued working in glass. I took up lampworking about 8 years ago, when I finally retired. I can't imagine not lampworking now - well, maybe when it gets cooler.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mirror!!!...I have my grandparents mirror...nothing do ornate, but four pretty little flowers in each corner. I also grew up around tons of glorious glass in a rainbow of colours, shapes and sizes...I believe now that it may have been what brought me to where I am now.;)
