Jake the Snow Man and Writing Copy for Your Listings

snowman-lampwork-glass-bead
Meet Jake, Frosty's cousin. Jake is a more athletic version of Frosty. He likes to snow shoe, cross country ski and play hockey. He says those are muscles under that layer of snow. (Harrumph, that's what all the guys say!) Jake is hoping that there will be some sort of outdoor Wii programs on the market soon.

Jake is wearing a hat and a scarf, (sure he knows how to layer) and does not have a carrot nose. Being a vegan, he feels that there are better uses for a carrot.

He is close to an inch tall with a 1/16th vertical hole.

This is a sample of one of my Etsy Shop listings for my sculptural beads. I wanted to show you how a little entertainment may help enhance your beads and what you're trying to convey in them. I think the two little paragraphs help support the goal of presenting a whimsical and amusing snowman. So get a little creative. If you're at a loss for words, go to http://www.dictionary.com. I use it all the time. Not just to check my spelling, but to browse through the thesaurus. Sometimes there's a perfect word out there just waiting for you. And those perfect words may help you sell your perfect piece of art.

Do You Know Beading Color Expert Margie Deeb?

Do you know beading color expert Margie Deeb?

She writes wonderful articles, pdfs, books and does podcasts regarding colors for beaders.

She is busy working on a Spring color forecast and I'm lucky to be making one of the jewelry illustrations for it.

Here is an approximation of the colors that I'll be using but in different proportions.

I was thinking of making a sculptural flower bead with these colors. And as it needs to be finished jewelry for my submission, then use that bead to make a ring. But seeing that it's not due for a little while, I'm open to suggestions from all of you. What would you like to see in these colors? It should be 50% pink, 22% green and yellow- each and about 6% white. I'd love to hear your ideas.

Kids, Dogs and Other Fun Stuff

Usually I choose a bead that illustrates what I'm thinking about, but today I just chose one that makes me smile. Jenny with an Attitude, does just that. I have seen my share of little girls who get in a huff, and they make me laugh.

For you bead lovers who read this, Jenny was made on a 1/16th mandrel and started as a tab. I had some extra green stringer that made a nice base and then added the head, arms, legs and extra details. The puppy came next, because she really needed to be carrying something special, and the sunglasses and tiny details are stroked on last.

I'll be posting again soon. Lots of thoughts floating around in here.

Take care,
Marcy
