Growing Crazy Mushrooms ...

I think I have mushroom envy.  My friends are posting photos of purple, green and multihued mushrooms from their yards.  Honestly, I was feeling kind of left out.  Oh yeah I have a few mushrooms, but they're brown, and kind of look like pancakes that have set out too long.  So what does a glass artist do?  Well of course, we make what we don't have.  I decided to make some with faces.  Why not?  This blue one is hanging out on my tree roots with some moss.  A perfect place for him.



...and he needed someone to keep him company, so this one has little arms and pink cheeks.  Must be a younger version.

Oh The Places I've Been

You might be wondering, "what is that little ugly lump of glass?" Well, I wanted to show you my first bead that I ever made. I was so delighted that somehow I had found some "magic" glass because part of it turned a kind of brick red. Little did I know, that I was holding it too close in to the flame and the copper was coming to the surface. lol. The ends are thin and sharp and of course it is very saggy and uneven. But it is a good reminder to keep. Of where I've been and where I want to go. And that we all start at the beginning and practice will make us so much better. 

So now I am done reminiscing. I just thought you might get a chuckle out of the ugly little mess that started a wonderful connection to art, fantastic friends, students and my tribe of people who all enjoy similar things.  I wanted to thank you for helping make my life such a joy. Blessings to you all.

Fontemplating...The Art of Contemplating a New Font

I've been looking at fonts for my new website.  I want a nice one for my name.  I'm changing the StudioMarcy title to my name, Marcy Lamberson and perhaps adding "glass artist" below it.

And after pouring through hundreds of fonts, these are some of my favorites. I want one that is easy to read, and has a little style at the same time.  And although a lot of my work is whimsical, I don't want all the curlicues and cute stuff for my name.  I would like versatility and a more stylized font as my art changes over the years. I think that would represent me better in the direction I want to go.

So if you have a favorite, please let me know.  Or comments, if you think I'm off base. I'm open to hear your thoughts.  See you soon as  I'm going through this process of a new website, I think you might enjoy hearing what I'm learning along the way.

In The Atlanta Area This Weekend? This Is Where You Will Find Me.

Come see me and my colorful glass (& my new fun flower wreaths too- who knew they would come back into style?) at the Dunwoody Arts Festival and here are the specific details.

I will have some creative charms and bracelets made from metals and my sculptural glass.  Also, sun catchers, one of a kind utensils and more jewelry (have you seen my adjustable statement rings?).  I have added earrings this year in honor of Mother's Day.  A new pair is always a great present.

It's That Time Of Year..Show Season

You haven't heard from me much, and it's because I am busy trying to get all my inventory together for my show this weekend.
I will be in Acworth on Saturday and Sunday all day.

Trying to find the right mix to sell is really hard, as many of you know.  What to have that is different and appealing to the shopper.

This show last year seemed to appeal to lots of families and their dogs.  And glass doesn't always mix with that group, but with Mother's Day coming up soon and the weather so nice, I am trying to appeal in that way.  Sun catchers, garden ornaments, functional glass objects and some jewelry are all in the mix.

Fused Abstract Forms

Glass artist, George F. Jackson's Abstract Forms with Fused Glass  really caught my attention.  I love the shape, texture and yes, the color palette that makes me want to reach out and touch it.
