Post Cinco de Mayo Wrap UP

I know for many people, Cinco de Mayo is an excuse to drink a few more margaritas and eat Mexican food. (not guilty this year, but look out 2013!)

But I wanted to bring to your attention, a fashion statement that is currently popular in northern Mexico.  They are called guarachero boots and personally, I love seeing them!

They look like something Dr. Seuss would have invented, had he written books that needed a cowboy in it or perhaps one of his creatures who needed to rock or ski leaning forward.  I do wish they would embellish the tips more, don't you?

I haven't seen them up close and in person, but  know I would be staring if I did and of course asking questions.  But to me, it's high time men got the opportunity to wear shoes that are out there.  It shouldn't be all up to women.

Color Trends

I was looking at one of my favorite fashion trend sites and they showed this palette as one of the trends for 2012.  (I'll be blogging about the Pantone 2012 Color of the Year in a separate post)

But the first thing I noticed was how perfect some of the Creation is Messy colors are for it.  Wow.
The first photo, their color "Ginger" for the slacks and "Crocus" for her top.  The second photo, "Desert Pink" seemed to fit the bill.  The third photo looks like "Dirty Martini" to me.  Not an exact match, but it would go well with what is shown.  The final photo again would include "Desert Pink".

So if these are some of the color combinations, I think I'll be watching what's in the shops and probably shopping for CiM glass.  I'm a big fan of their colors anyhow, so this will be easy.

All I can say is that I'd love to design jewelry to go with them. They make me dream of all kinds of fun ideas.

T-Shirts Into Couture

I chanced across this designer and website and had to take a second look. Designer Angela Johnson, of http://www.AngelaJohnsonDesigns.com made this fabulous black ballgown out of recycled t-shirts.

She terms it, "innovative, eco-friendly gowns made from "thrifted" t-shirts."

Personally, I think this dress rocks. It's got style, sass and I bet the cotton jersey provides a great fit too.

Explore her website. What really hit home was the use of materials in an artistic and different manner.

And of course that made me sit back and think of that as a glass artist too. How can I achieve something along the same lines? So that's my topic to contemplate for the next few days. How can I use other materials with my glass or in lieu of my glass to achieve creative results?

Looking At Life As Beads

Sorry, couldn't resist this fashion photo called "Everlasting Sprout". It just makes me smile.

And when looking at the model with the pink tights I think... "she looks like a bead."

Yes, starting with her legs- slim pink barrel. Her dress is a reverse bicone shape (or two cones facing each other) decorated with black, ivory, medium amber and Gelly Pink stringers and her head is an oval slightly marvered at the chin.

Yep, she's a bead.
