Making a Chanel Ring - Video

I watched a Chanel promotional video on "The Making of the Soleil d'Automne ring on YouTube and thought you might enjoy it here

I watched it in two ways...the first was to watch the craftsmanship going into this beautiful ring and the second was as a craftsperson.  How they made this promotional video about something they are proud to be making by hand, and how they edited it to show a part of what they do that adds value.

Most of you are fellow artists or artisans and I'm thinking that we all should find a way to put ourselves on youtube, if we aren't already.  Searchable by potential customers, and to show what we do.

So tell me, have you made a video yet that has been posted to youtube?  What do you think?

Display at The Mansion

These kind of look either like some weird kinds of jelly fish floating to me.  But of course, they're just some beautifully made, ladies' hats.

Upon my friend, Sylvie Lansdowne's suggestion, I stopped by The Mansion in Savannah to check out their art displays, during our recent visit.  They had quite a few antique cabinets filled with gorgeous hand crafted hats of the same vintage.

Looking at them, I wonder about the almost lost art of making them and  whether the recent Royal wedding revived the interest a bit?  I can't help but admire the artistic artisan aspect to them.  I would love to learn more about how the flowers are made, and what could be done with hand dyed ribbons as much as how to shape a hat.  I guess making cool objects will always be an interest of mine.

There is a local Atlanta shop, Nicholas Kniel, who has hat making classes.  The last time I visited, (he has a wonderful selection of feathers too), there were 3 women making hats at his back table, because they were attending the Kentucky Derby.

So what do you think?  Should there be a movement to revive this craft?  Would you want to learn how to make them?  Would you want to own one?

Red Riding Hood Revisited

Two days ago, I told you that I was working on my bead for our Southern Flames Glassworkers group postcard.  And I showed you the darling print of the guinea pig dressed up.

So here is the end result.  No, I didn't dress up an animal as Red Riding Hood, but that still may be in the future...  But I did make this cute little girl and just happened to have a spare wolf hanging around my inventory (I know, what a coincidence).  I'm going to create a glass base for the two of them and make them a nice woodsy place to co-habitate.  Can't we all just get along?

See you tomorrow!  Right here at www.StudioMarcy.blogspot.com  or find me on facebook under Marcy Lamberson.

10x10 Booth- Now What? Help Me Please

I know a lot of my readers are artisans in a variety of art and craft styles and  this time, I'm asking for your help and expertise.

How do you get the maximum of space in a 10x10 indoor area?  What are your table layouts?  What tips and tricks do you have?  Lights?  What kind?  Photos?  Could you post links.  This is where I am hoping you can teach this old dog, new tricks.

Now I will have products that are all sizes as well, so I'm not just talking glass beads.  So let me know what you know, that you are willing to share.  Got a great resource for a banner, or signage?  I'd love to know.  What about display racks or stands...I know there are a lot of creative ones out there...

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.  I know your experience and thoughts will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much!!

Tuesday from the Studio

I hope your week isn't zipping by like mine is. Wow!
Today, I'm having a 20% off Sale in my shop in my Funky / Amusing Beads Category. There are some funny ones there.
I also have added the Bunny and Lulu to my shop. Lulu is a charm and has a Sterling Silver wire loop and Swarovski crystal to complete her look.

I need to dash. Hope to pop back later and feature another one of etsy's shops.

Have a great day,
Marcy
